This KitchenAid thick-walled clear glass mixing and measuring bowl fits 4 1/2-qt. and 5-qt. tilt-head mixers. It accommodates larger size recipes and features a drip-proof spout and side handle let you pour directly from the bowl. Graduated measurements, up to 12 cups, let you see the exact total amount of ingredients, especially beneficial when mixing bread dough. Solid clear glass design enables you to check mixing progress from every angle, and this KitchenAid bowl is microwave-safe to blend sauces or toppings and heat directly in the microwave without transferring to another bowl. I love it!
If you have a KA mixer I consider this an investment. I've had mine for at least 15 yrs and have been very happy with it. I have a 4.5 quart stainless steel bowl and was interested in the glass. First I called Kitchenaid and when they told me the glass bowl was $99.99 and the lid was $15.00, I asked them why they were so much higher, I was told once they sell to Amazon they can't control what they sell them for so naturally I decided to purchase from Amazon.I was reading a few of the most recent reviews and the one talking about the price of the bowl, this is a great price for both the bowl and lid unless you would rather pay $115.There was a reviewer talking about trouble with the lid not snapping on, at first I did have trouble with the lid, I was trying to snap on from the back of bowl and it did not seem to work so I then put it on by first snapping on the spout and then going around to back of bowl and that worked, next I went to put bowl on mixer and it seem to not lock, I did not realize the gray ring on the bowl was not tightened so I screwed it on tightly and placed it back on the mixer clockwise and it locked in place. I placed each attachments on to make sure they were sitting in the bottom of the bowl correctly and there were no adjustments needed to the mixer head and another plus, all of my attachments, the flex edge paddle, the regular paddle, the whisk and dough hook all fit perfectly in the bowl for storage.I'm very happy so far with the bowl and I have not used it yet, I'm looking forward to making my next cake, all pros here!!!!

I absolutely LOVE this mixing bowl. I bought it to go with my  KitchenAid Artisan Series 5 Quart Tilt-Head Stand Mixer in Boysenberry .

It is large in size, which is great. It fits perfectly well on my mixer. The lid is great for storing food/excess mixture in the fridge. It seals perfectly well. I actually have this bowl in my fridge right now with left over mashed potatoes that I made in it with my mixer.

Since it is glass, obviously you can watch while your mixing and know that everything is being incorporated and mixed thoroughly.

It is a bit pricey, but I feel like it is worth it. It is very heavy and looks great. I expect it to last... forever.

If you keep checking back here at Amazon and look where it says "Used and New from xxx.xx" you can find great deals on them. "Used" usually just means it was a return, but never actually used. I bought mine that way and saved 30 bucks! It was listed as "used" and said "packaging may be damaged." When I received it, you could tell it was clearly brand new, never out of the box and definitely not used. The box did look a little messed up, a corner of it was a little crushed, and some of the graphic was like scratched up, but who cares about the box?? It saved me a lot of money and was perfect.

I received the classic KitchenAid 4.5 quart stand mixer for Christmas, and it became immediately apparent that as much cooking as I do, I needed a second bowl. The 5 quart glass bowl *does work* with the Classic model and fits perfectly in the stand. I actually prefer the glass bowl over the original stainless that came with the mixer since it's slightly larger. Made from heavy glass and the handle is a huge plus, not to mention it has a lid also. I made an Italian Cream Cake for Christmas which called for beaten egg whites to be added to the cake batter, and it was so nice to be able to change out the bowl and beater for another bowl with the whisk to beat the eggs.

For people who are having trouble with the mixer not mixing ingredients in the very bottom of the bowl, I'll share a tip I found on another review which came straight from KitchenAid customer service. If you place a dime in the bottom of the bowl with the flat beater attached, the beater should move the dime about 1/4" or so when you turn the mixer on. It shouldn't hit the bowl, but it should at least move the dime. This is easily accomplished by adjusting the screw at the base of the tilt head - VERY SMALL increments, then re-test. I had to adjust my brand new mixer and now it mixes everything in the bottom of the bowl perfectly.

Don't hesitate to buy this bowl if you need an extra. It is worth every penny, and Amazon is much cheaper than other stores we checked.

I recently purchased this KitchenAids 5-Quart Glass Bowl as a gift for my girlfriend and I must this thing is incredible.

At first I was wonder why do I need to buy a $70 bowl for her KitchenAids stand mixer it already has a metal included. In the never ending efforts that I put forth to keep my girlfriend happy I broke down and bought the bowl. When I received it, I took a few minutes to inspect for any damage. Upon this inspection I noticed Wow! this isn’t just any old mixing bowl, this one is special!

Here are some of the things that make this bowl so freakin’ special:
-It’s made of glass, so you can observe items you put in the bowl
-There are measuring increments on the side so you can measure the contents that you place in the bowl
-The base of the bowl is constructed to securely attach to a kitchen aid stand mixer
-A handle is securely built into one side of the bowl, allows for easy one handed lifting and added control
-The is a spout opposite sided the handle, an excellent feature for pouring out the content of the mixing bowl
-Last but defiantly not least is the plastic lid that is included with the bowl, perfect for cover and storing a your KitchenAids glass bowl

This is truly an amazing product. I could not be more satisfied with my $70 bowl purchase. There are very few things that I have purchased in my life that I could consider a better purchase that a $70 glass mixing bowl

Love this glass bowl for my kitchen aid! For years I've only had the 3 quart stainless steel bowl that came with my kitchen aid. It never bothered me until I started baking my own bread and I would have the bowl "in use" for hours while I waited for my bread dough to rise. I finally decided to invest in a second bowl and found this one. I'm so glad I order the 5 qt glass bowl over another stainless steel one. My 3 qt bowl fits perfect inside this 5 qt bowl which really helps with storing it. The markings on the bowl are also helpful, but I still tend to measure out my ingredients prior to adding them to the bowl. The handle is also very nice and sturdy! I haven't used the lid for much other than a cover to let my bread dough rise, but can see a few other uses in which it will be very nice. I'm very happy with this purchase and would definitely recommend it as a complement to your original 3 qt stainless steel kitchen aid bowl!
