Educational Value
I love that the narrator reads the question. So many games meant for this age group require an adult to read the question. Yay for Leapfrog! Sometimes the correct answer is displayed in the center. For example, "Find the word fix." Or "Find the letter S in the correct position" Most of the words are CVC (consonant vowel consonant) words and the game doesn't teach to blend. Some of the words are high-frequency words, which can be irregular (rule breakers), but the game doesn't address this or teach them a method. "Find the word do", choices "do" or "be". I'm a teacher, and I appreciate a video game that encourages reading and letter recognition but keeps the balance fun. My son asks to play this game as much as any of his other games.
For my seven-year-old daughter in second grade, the reading and letter recognition is too easy. She still thinks the game is fun, but the questions are not challenging her or teaching her anything new.
Difficulty of Game play:
The game is perfect for my five-year-old son. We also own an Xbox One and a Wii U console and some of the games we've purchased for him are much too hard. This game, however, he can play entirely on his own. He only needs to shake the remote to defeat the villains.
Graphics
The graphics are very simple. It is not a visually stunning video game. You will not be impressed by the CGI, but it doesn't bother my young children one bit.
My son is 4 and he's not into anything violent or scary.
This is his 1st not so juvenile game and he loves it! At certain points he gets stuck and I help but it's only day one.... I love how learning is incorporated as power ups....
This game is going to help with his hand and eye coordination and get him totatally ready for a more main stream type of gaming system!
Awesome game....
I actually had a great time playing myself.... until my son turned off the game because I was having to much fun! Lol!

I wasn't entirely keen on how much *punching, kicking etc was involved and encouraged in the game.
Although my 3yr old loved the idea of being able to shoot spiderwebs from an educational point of view I wouldn't recommend it for anyone below the age of 5.
