I was a little worried about using scissors to cut the micro sim at first, but it turned out I needed to to get it to fit! I'm glad the product had instructions to do this, unlike some of the *aherm* German made ones, which do not come with instructions and prove difficult to cut. (my friend tried this, and long story short, it was a complete failure the thing just came apart when he tried to cut it!) I decided to try out this one for my attempt to resurrect my old iPhone 3G.

I used this one for my iPhone 3G and it worked like a charm. The whole cutting to size deal is really no problem as it only takes seconds and ensures a custom made perfect fit! Im so excited, now my old iPhone can be used again. Not to mention it slides in and out very easily, which means I might be switching my sim cards in and out depending on which service provider has a better deal.

Incase you are wondering I'm giving my (NOW UNLOCKED!) old iPhone to my brother because I got the new 4G. However, I'm beginning to consider taking it back because he actually has service and a cheaper plan.. hmmmm

well before this gets to long...

Thank you AFC for making a product that doesn't suck!! five stars up!

Micro SIM Adapter for Apple iPad and iPhone 4
Reviewed in the United States on July 8, 2010
I have an older unlocked Blackberry Curve 8900 that I wasn't using for anything, and I'd love to use it as an GPS on the road from time to time. My iPad 3G is just too bulking to carry with me when I am out hiking or doing other outdoor activities. This product is just a perfect solution to my dilemma.

Initially, I was a little concerned with the fitting issue, but my concern was unfounded. My iPad's MicroSIM slips easily into the adapter and it fits perfectly. The real test, though, is how well it fit into my BB Curve because 8900 has a very tight SIM slot. It seems as though any tiny bit of increase of thickness would not make it through, however; the adapter with the microSIM inserted into the Curve's tight space without any trouble. Pulling it out wasn't much to it either.

I anxiously boot up my Blackberry curve, initial test with internet connection works perfectly, I was able to use GPS apps and getting online. Everything was a success!! Now I can have a smaller device to carry with me wherever I go and be connected on my larger iPad screen when sitting down, all with one data plan, AWESOME!

My wife has an iPhone 3G from her work, just to satisfy my own curiosity, I also tested microSIM with the adapter in my wife's iPhone, it goes in and out without a problem. So this could be another option if eventually she is allowed to get an iPad for her work.

The adapter was packed in a envelope with protection, but I guess since it's really thin so as to fit in the SIM slot it breaks under the lightest pressure. The thinner part that goes around the SIM card was broken out of the package, but I decided to try it anyway and it fit in perfectly. I don't need to take the card out for a month, and after that I won't need to reuse the adapter, so it's okay for the price. But it might not work for someone who needs to take it out of the phone often.

I see some of the other reviews state that the adapter doesn't have the beveled edge to support the sim card as shown in the picture. Maybe the seller has updated his product. In any case, the adapter I got does have the edge that supports the sim card, and IT works perfectly. In addition, the package includes 2 stickers to be used as a template for cutting your normal sized sim card, and transforming it into a micro sim card, which I used with ease. Also, very quick shippment of the product. I couldn't be happier!

These work. They do what they are supposed to and don't take a enormous amount of time, effort nor thought to use properly.

And...to remove them, take a moment, study your device and...wait for it...BE SMART.

Here is the problem most people seem to be having: The contact pins in many phones were designed to accept a standard SIM. With this in mind the adapter (any adapter) cannot make up for the small gap that will exist between the SIM and the adapter itself. Cut a small piece of plastic longer than a SIM but close to the same width. I used a piece of screen protector film with the peel away backing still in place. Such a film is flexible and thin enough to slide between the SIM and the contact pins. You need something this thin because you are going to use it to help assist your SIM with adapter into place and out of your phone if you are removing it.

The idea is simple: use this film to push down the pins and to provide a safe insertion and removal. For my wife's blackberry and Galaxy Note I placed the thin piece of film into the SIM slot. Gently remove your SIM while keeping the film in place. Do this right and your card won't rip the contact pins from your phone.
