What’s new in this release of Office?
The 2013 versions of familiar Office applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint include new features that help you create, communicate and work efficiently from virtually anywhere. In addition to updating the traditional Office suites, Microsoft has developed brand new subscription versions of Office, specifically designed around the way customers use Office. Each new subscription offer will include the 2013 versions of the Office applications, for example Word, Excel and PowerPoint, plus cloud services such as Skype world minutes and online storage with SkyDrive.
Subscribers will also receive future rights to version upgrades as well as per-use rights across multiple PCs or Macs and select mobile devices.1 Note: The Office applications you can use across PCs, Macs and other devices vary by platform.

What is the difference between the Office 2013 suites and Office 365 plans?
Microsoft Office is still the name Microsoft uses for its familiar productivity software. Office suites have traditionally included applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. All Office 2013 suites include the latest versions of the applications, for use on a single PC.
Microsoft uses the name “Office 365” for products that include cloud services, such as additional SkyDrive online storage, Skype minutes for home use, Lync web conferencing or Exchange Online hosted email for businesses. Cloud services are features that are enabled over the Internet. Most Office 365 plans also include the full-featured Office 2013 applications, which users can install across multiple computers and devices. All Office 365 products, such as Office 365 Home Premium, are paid for on a subscription basis, annually. Active subscribers will receive future rights to version upgrades as a benefit of their subscription. Entitlements vary by product.

This program has been completely misunderstood. What Microsoft has done with office is revolutionary! Yes there is only one usage. However, this one usage sticks with you through any computer you own. What they have done is create a way for you to actually sign in to Microsoft word and use it on any computer you own! I only found this out by accident. I was using an big clunky desktop. I downloaded it despite the negative reviews, because I needed it for school. Recently I decided to retire my clunker and get a laptop. I was dreading having to buy Microsoft Office all over again. I clicked on the trial icon on my new laptop for kicks and it gave me an option to input a key or sign in. I decided to try signing in. Lo and behold Microsoft office downloaded right to my new computer! I want everyone to know this because I don't think it is widely known, hence the low ratings about one usage. It is also connected to your Sky Drive so you can store all of your documents in the cloud and access them from anywhere. There new design is fun and hip. There are many hundreds of premade formats for an array of different projects. They are so fun and helpful. I love this new Microsoft office and can't say enough good things about it!
Edit- Reading through previous reviews specifically the top rated lowest rating. I found that this is a recent change for Microsoft as of April 2013. They replied to this rating to say they have made office transferable. So check it out everyone and re-review your review :) They are listening to their customers which is more than a lot of companies can say!
So, if you just do 32 bit install all should be fine. If you want 64 bit, and you have a previous 32 bit install, be prepared to do a bit of searching for ALL previous and deleting ALL previous Office programs and Office related programs. With a 64 bit install, if you have ANY residual 32 bit Office software, Microsoft does NOT give any indication whatsoever of lack of progress or that the install has given up. Microsoft, in the 64 bit install, PLEASE put in an uninstall for 32 bit Office software or at very least, information on what else needs to be removed.
I do have one suggestion. In order to avoid possible frustration, if you are running Windows 8.1 and IE 11, go into "manage add-ons" and disable Shockwave Flash Object before you start the download. Shockwave has some glitches that causes IE 11 to stop working at unexpected times. Knowing this, I disabled it before I attempted the download. Shockwave causes some many freezes, why risk it?
