Product Description

The new Samyang 35mm Cine Lens is made especially for DSLR video enthusiasts, videographers and cinematographers. It features the same outstanding image quality as the standard Samyang 35mm F1.4 lens but has the added benefits of de-clicked apertures and follow focus compatibility. De-clicked apertures means that there are no hard clicks when changing apertures and the aperture can be manually set to a very specific number (like f/1.7, f/2.8). The lens has also been constructed so that it can be easily attached to follow focus systems which are widely used by videographers. The Samyang Cine lenses are the most affordable, high quality lenses in the market today.

Thank you .Samyang, Bower and Rokinon for providing good quality lenses with reasonable prices. I have bought 8mm fisheye, 24mm, 35mm and 85 mm lenses from these 3 brands. They work all perfectly for video productions. The images are always sharpe, clear and crisp. Although you have to manipulate the apeture and focus rings in the same time, but it doesnt really matter to me. It's always good to get back to the traditional way.

Build:
Lens feels plasticky. Doesn't feel well built and the front element was quite dusty upon arrival as compared to my Rokinon 85.
The plastic filter thread is fragile, do not screw on your filter too tight! Manual focus is smooth, while the focus ring felt flimsy during manual focus.

Optical:
Pleasing Bokeh. Sweet spot is at T2.0 or F2.0 where images are very sharp in the center with negligible CA.

Recommended for film makers on a budget. But if you can pay more, go for Zeiss lenses!! :)

Great lens. Smooth gear, amazing depth-of-field, and fairly sharp, especially in the middle. Problem occurs when used in photography, I have a Canon T5i, using it for photography while using the Live view (LCD screen) is not advisable. Since it has a manual aperture, it does not work well with cameras that are not designed for manual only. It will not give an accurate representation of the shot. Perfect for video, not good for photography is the live view is used.

If you are armature movie maker looking for good quality, in Budget Cine lens than this is the one. Excellent sharp output. Full manual control over focus and F-stop (Need a little bit of practice for focusing) With F 1.5 you can shoot good quality movies with just one artificial lighting(If you setup your frame properly). Currently shooting a short movie, will post it once it is done.
