The USB port, power, and charging LEDs are all at the front of the device (relative to the company logo on the device). Depending on your phone, you may need to orient the device so the back end is facing you in order to properly align the charger's coil with your phone's wireless charging receiver, as I have to do with my Nexus 4. This isn't a big deal though, as it allows me to run the USB cable from my wall outlet up the back side of my desk to the charger without having to mess with the cable.
The charger appears to work great so far, I've been playing with it off and on for a day now. Mostly I leave my phone resting on it whenever I am sitting at my desk, using the phone as a clock. Neither the phone nor the charger appear to get very warm during charging. A second LED light will light up green once you have your phone properly placed so you won't be in doubt as to whether or not your phone will be getting any juice. I keep my Nexus 4 in a slim case, and that does not appear to hinder the charging process at all.
Important things to note: This charger does NOT come with an AC wall adapter, just a USB cable. Chances are, if you are the sort of person to shop for a wireless phone charger, you probably have like ten AC adapters floating around the house, including the one your phone came with, so this shouldn't be a big deal. My charger worked perfectly with the AC adapter and USB cable that shipped with my Nexus 4, so it will probably work with any cable and charger you wish to use.
Also, as I mentioned above, you may need to fiddle with the charger to figure out the correct placement for your phone. With the Nexus 4, this means the USB port on the charger is facing away from you if the USB port on the bottom of the Nexus 4 is facing towards you.

FIRST THE GOOD STUFF; It looks very nice with it's glossy white top, chrome sides, smooth edges and round corners. It works very good with my HTC Droid DNA (one of the few phones that has native Qi charging ability built into the phone). I have a fairly thick plastic case on it, an it still charges up through the case just fine without getting too hot (as long as it's lined up properly). I find the best position for the DNA is with the charger's cable facing away from you and the DNA facing towards you, with the bottom of the phone lined up with the top of the charger (centered between the sides). This position always works for me and produces the fastest charge with the least amount of waste heat.
NOW THE NOT-SO-GOOD STUFF;
-The charge cable's plug pulls itself out very easily. Not sure if that's a general issue for these chargers or if I just received a unit with a bad power jack (but either way it is still a QC issue). It's not a huge deal but it can get annoying as the plug only has to pull out about 1/16 of an inch for the power connection to be broken.
-The other issue is the bottom of the unit. While the top is a nice rigid plastic, the bottom is made of thin flexible plastic. the weight of the components inside the charger are enough to make the bottom bulge out in the middle. There are rubber feet in each corner, but they don't even touch the surface as the bulged plastic sticks out lower than the rubber feet. Instead of staying where you put it, the charger likes to spin around like a lazy susan! (combine this with the loose power cable and it gets annoying). I "fixed" it by installing some self stick rubber feet in the inner corners (not on top of, but next to the factory rubber feet).
Even with those minor issues, overall I am still happy with this charger. Inductive charging is certainly not the most efficient charging method out there, but it is very convenient. In case anyone is wondering, the power supply for this unit outputs 19v@1A, so you will not be able to use a USB cable to power it.
This is an adequate charger, though not as robust as I had hoped for.
I do want to give my complements to the Anker product support people. They did a very nice job.
Update: after a couple of weeks the replacement unit failed event though I had only used it a few times.

I have a few different makes of QI charger because I think that it is a great and convenient system. I use them at home and at the office.
This one is the very worst of them all. Not just bad - but almost useless - and in fact after a day of trying, I threw it away because it just wasn't worth the hassle anymore.
It is extremely fussy about positioning the phone - so that if you are a centimetre out, it doesn't charge.
Also, the charging force - or whatever it is that takes the electricity to the phone has a great deal of difficulty crossing through a silicone case - which I suppose is a couple of mm thick.
I have no difficulty with my other QI chargers - they are all fairly position friendly and all of them allow me to charge without removing the case.
This one is a dog.
Funktioniert so beides zuverlässig.
