Other things to note: Decent speakers (much better than my an old acer 1410), pretty zippy (all relative I know but has impressed me)
The 500gb dock is pretty bulky, and my colleagues were surprised at the density. We actually ended up running our laptops into a lab to weigh each as they were sure that the Asus T100 was heavier than 3 lb (it was not; 2.7 lb with the iPearl cover on the tablet portion only). However, the computer is surprising dense and fairly thick. The tablet part of it is adequate, but not as pleasant to navigate and use as my iPad mini. I put a screen protector on right away, so that may be inhibiting good touchscreen performance, but then I have a screen protector on the iPad also. Web surfing as a tablet is kind of oddly sluggish with a lag between response to touch, loading of pages, opening links, etc. I'm using Mozilla but may give Chrome a try. I may also try a different stylus as the foam tipped kind does not seem to make good contact. I installed Office 2010 instead of the student edition as I wanted Outlook. It runs the Microsoft applications just fine, with acceptable speed. I'm also running Endnote, Dropbox, and Adobe Acrobat Professional; it does well with all of those. I have all programs installed on the C, SSD with only about 15gb left. I'm considering saving the recovery information on a flash drive so I can access the other 14gb of the SSD that is hidden from use. I might also consider the flash memory card, but I had hoped that would be unnecessary with the 500gb HDD. I only have a small portion of that used, but I can't see putting programs on the detachable HDD. I haven't run the battery dry yet, but it seems to use a little over 10%/hour with the 500gb dock powered by the tablet. Overall, I like this as a light weight travel computer and tablet that I can take to meeting in my attempt to go paperless. I originally tried this "paperless" task with the iPad, but it was more difficult than I wanted to get documents onto the iPad and organized properly. For the T100, I would definitely purchase the larger SSD, as 64gb is really too small as it is. I'm not sure that the 500gb dock is worth the added thickness and weight, as I am so far not making efficient use of the HDD.
