I have had about 6 different Garmin GPS products in the last 10 years. This one is easy to see, easy to hear, has lifetime map updates, and unlike some of the older models, this will let you pick the "dashboard" so to speak. If you use one, you know that you usually have windows on the bottom which tell you two things. Time you will arrive, and your speed. Well, finally, they are putting in some options. Such as, Time of arrival, miles to go, time of day, speed, elevation and so on. Much nicer. No regrets, I would buy again. Also, if you have a gps, you can transfer the points you have saved to the new gps. Cheers.

I rented a car when I went to a wedding last year, and it came with a Garmin GPS. I'd never used one before, and was delighted to have it help me find my way around a strange town. When I got home I decided to get one for our daughter, who will be going away to college this coming fall. She's never driven much except for in our county, and her college is a couple of hours away.

I picked this model with lifetime maps because I wanted something that would be useful for a few years and not cost more money down the road. It was easy to set it up by linking to the Garmin website, but when I tried to download the US map, it told me there wasn't enough memory (on a brand new GPS??) so I had to choose a map of the Eastern half of the USA (where we live) to download.

We really like the graphics on the maps, and the way it can remind you where you parked. I also liked that I only had to plug the device in my computer and create a Garmin account in order to register it and get updates. So far we haven't found any mistakes in the directions it gives us, but we'll see once our daughter has to depend on it in her new town.

One thing I don't like about this model is the way you search for an address. If it's a business (like a college) it may be found in a list of businesses. But for street addresses, I have to type in the number and street name and then pick from a list of possible towns nearby. If I'm looking for a town several states away, I have a long list to scroll through. The GPS I got in the rental car allowed me to type in the town name.

This GPS comes with a car charger, a USB cord for the computer and a suction cup mount. I purchased a sandbag-type base separately. Overall this is a useful GPS, with a few small details I'd like to change (internal memory and how you search for addresses), but we're glad we bought it.

Edited to add: I bought a micro SD card to increase the memory in this GPS. Thanks to all the helpful answers I got from other users, I knew what to buy and where to insert it.

This is my fifth garmin gps. It is the fastest at obtaining satellites and calculates routes quicker. I like the ability to avoid specific roads on an intended route allowing me to "correct" some of the route because I know a street may not be the best way to get somewhere.

I bought this unit advertised as refurbished. As a used product it seems to be working well but has on occasion shut off for no reason. Hopefully this does not happen in the middle of a road trip just before an important turn.

The address search is different from my four previous garmin gps and I do not like it. The worst thing they did was drop the ability to search using zip codes. I now must know which city an address might be in, this is a problem in US urban areas as city limits are not easy to find some times.

The route mapping display has also been changed, not bad, but something that was changed that I don't see as an improvement. It still takes a couple/few steps to accomplish and is less intuitive then it was before the change.

After searching through many different consusmer rating articles on the variety of GPS units available I came upon this one as one that had great ratings and would meet my husbands needs as he relies on this alot for his business...larger screen is much easier to read, requiring for less time trying to stare at the GPS and more time to concentrate in traffic; exits on the highway are displayed on split screen with a photographic quality picture, more choices for finding gas, restaurants, shopping, etc. He really liked my last Garmin GPS but this one is better, better, better! (His words) I would strongly recomment this seller, not only were the prices great, the delivery time was extremely short considering the holidays.

The power unit seems to be defective and wont' charge. This was a shear waste of money. I purchased the unit for $40 and shipping it back will cost me $10-$15 so there really is no point. These defective units should not be on sale at amazon.com
