Technically, this is considered a teleside converter
Based on published information from Olympus, this lens provides these features:> Telephoto shooting with 1.7x magnification but without changing the aperture (slightly less than a doubler)> Capture far away motifs by extending the focal length from 100mm to 170mm> Easy attachment to the camera even underwater up to a depth of 12mThe image paired with this review shows how there is vignetting at the minimum focal length - 1x. The vignetting disappears as the camera is zoomed toward the maximum focal length - 4x. When zoomed to about 3x, the vignetting seems to be completely gone.My TG-3 has a menu setting for accessories. If the camera menu is set for the TCON-T01 (this lens) then the camera automatically zooms to 4x when turned on. That's a small convenience, but you can zoom manually to eliminate the vignetting. There may also be other computer settings that are adjusted when the menu is set for the TCON-T01, but I haven't found them yet. Stay tuned for updates on that.As with any telephoto device, camera shake becomes an issue to manage. I haven't spent enough time with this accessory to know which camera settings will best manage this issue.If you're looking for something that more-or-less acts as a doubler, you'll probably like this lens.If you find this review helpful, please let me know by clicking the "Helpful" button below. This bundle comes with adapter ring and lens. The lens is solid and has caps on each end to protect it when not in use. The adapter ring also comes with another lens cap which is nice, as the camera itself did not come with a lens cap. I just swapped the ring that came with the camera for this adapter ring. I was able to attach my diving filter to the adapter ring which I had previously purchased for my older Olympus Stylus underwater housing. Overall happy with purchase. Photos show 1) normal 2)camera's built in zoom, and 3) with telephoto lens.
