FREE yourself from the cable company!
I've been trying to "disconnect" as much as possible from the cable company. I live in Los Angeles and have TWC. I've leased several modems over the years and don't even want to think about how much money I've spent doing so. The main reason I leased for so long is because of the implied support. If something went wrong with any of the equipment you could call a TWC technician or take it into a local branch to swap out. But for $100 I figured try it out for one week before I return the rented modem. And if for some reason down the road the purchased modem fails on me I could always go back to TWC and lease another one. It's been two months and so far so good!!! Speeds are great and I don't have to reset the equipment nearly as often. The installation process was a bit nerve wrecking but that's because TWC needs to detect and register the new modem. There are several posts online to help you out but bottom line is you have to give it up to a good hour + for the registration to take place. Just in case: This unit does not omit a wifi signal or have more than I ethernet out port. So if you plug in more than one device directly to the modem or need wifi make sure you get a wifi router along side this modem. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
