HOWEVER, speed did not increase over by Docsis 2.0 modem, using COMCAST. They had been pestering me for months about how much better a docsis 3.0 modem is, it wasn;t
I was currently getting 30 mbps with an old docsis 2.0, but the performance package from Comcast had been upgraded to 50 mbps. The local representative said that the speed was guaranteed UP to 50, not that I would get 50!! So I upgraded to blast for free for 30 days, up to 150 mbps, instead I got 95 mbps consistently, with this SAME modem. So my modem is obviously not a problem, it is just that Comcast throttles down the speed to 30 no matter if you have docsis 3.0 or not.
Solution is to go to your store and ask "What are your customers getting?" or rent their modem for a month. If the speed doesnt increase, then demand a refund and refund their modem. If it does increase, then buy this modem to replace the rented modem.
PS Even my router a Linksys EAA6200 is performing better, less drops.
I've been using it with Comcast Xfinity 100Mbps in Fort Myers, FL. My data speeds have been good, very few connection issues and there has rarely been any downtime. Any downtime I've had was related to Comcast, not this modem. All I had to do was plug it in, call Comcast and it was working fine.
I use this with my own Google OnHub Router made by TP-Link and they've had zero connection issues in nearly 1.5 years. I highly recommend this modem and cannot find anything I dislike about it.
I haven’t had any issues since installation but during the installation the installer ran into a hiccup when they said the cable modem needed to be released from a previous registration. It was resolved and I was up and running.
This review asked for a wi-if rating. I have one star for that aspect as this cable modem does not provide WiFi by itself, a separate router or access point would be required for that...
Pros: Faster than the Comcast rental and looks nicer than the Zoom modem
Cons: Drops signal and restarts multiple times per day (Deal Breaker, buy the Zoom)
I have been using this a few days. It works MUCH faster than the X1 platform Comcast rents. I went from Ookla speed tests in the 6-20mbps range over CAT-5 with the X1 to consistent 125-145mbps tests over this modem even through the Netgear 802.11AC wireless router I paired it with. Unfortunately, this modem keeps resetting, despite receiving a reliable signal to the house. It is resetting an average of 5-10 times a day. It's great when it works, but the lack of reliability is disappointing.
This modem has pretty well documented recurring issues of resetting (All the ones I've seen are when used with Comcast, which is my ISP as well). I didn't see this until I searched specifically for it, but do a quick google search and you'll see... there appears to be a systemic issue, although it's hard to pinpoint the source when each install has so many variables. I did find multiple people who had this issue recommended the Zoom 5341J modem instead. I have ordered the Zoom modem and will update when it arrives, but I do expect to return this one. As a bonus, the zoom is selling on here for about $10 less, so you might want to try that first anyway.
I've seen speculation about RF interference or bad power supplies... I don't know. I don't really care. The product doesn't do its job reliably. If the Zoom modem does the same thing, I'll change this review. If this review is still up after 22 December 2015, consider it confirmed.
**** This is confirmed. I have changed to the Zoom 5341J and it runs at the same speeds, but does not restart like this one did. ***

The Arris/Motorola SB6141 are identical products despite the name difference. Despite redundancy I’ll mention that this is just a MoDem; most end-use cases will require that this be plugged into a router or a wireless router or (edit) directly into your PC's Ethernet port if you have no other network infrastructure.
Installation is trivial. It comes with an Ethernet cable to plug into the WAN port of your router typically, but what it does not come with is a Coaxial cable to connect it to the cable outlet so that will have to be ordered separately or purchased elsewhere.
For self-installation the ISP will want to know the MAC address of the unit and possibly some other information which is found on the sticker on the retail box and also on a sticker on the bottom of the unit itself. In my case they requested I simply take a picture of the sticker and email it to them. A technician from the Cable Company may also have to visit your building or apartment as well to complete activation – though mine was activated remotely as the building or unit had cable internet service previously and the technician just had to check signal strength and nothing more.
The unit runs a bit warm (nothing concerning) and has perforations in the housing for passive cooling. I’d put it somewhere open, not sandwiched between other objects with adequate airflow away from direct sunlight. IT is about 5-1/4” high, 5-1/4” deep (not including stick out from rear connectors and cables) and 1-3/4” wide.
In closing, the equipment cost in my case will be recovered in a few months given my new billing rate vs old rate (then my rate will just be cheaper), so I’m quite happy with this purchase.
