It was easy to remove the old one by pushing/sliding the eyecup piece up. I slid the new one down until I heard it "lock" into place.
There is a huge difference between the original/included and this long eyecup version especially when I'm wearing my eyeglasses. It works perfectly and the new eyecup actually helps brace my glasses against the camera. I don't get my nose smudges on the LCD screen anymore.
It sits up a bit higher than the original and is definitely more comfortable when using the camera.
NOTE: If you think you are even vaguely interested in this, and it shows as "in stock," GRAB IT, because I have seen this part go in and out of stock over the past year.
The extended eyecup is significantly deeper than even the X-T2 stock eyecup, (way deeper than the paltry X-T1 eyecup) and seals out unwanted stray light far better than either camera's stock eyecup. I installed the extended version and see a huge difference with every use in bright light.
I will add that if you do mostly vertical shots, the extended eyecup may disappoint some users because then it fits almost perpendicular to the natural contour of our face. Still, it lives on my X-T2 and has not been a problem in either aspect position for me. I'll keep the original in my kit as a spare. My only reason for not giving this a 5-star is that it could possibly be designed with a more pliable top edge for better vertical use by right-eyed shooters.
(photos comparing original X-T2 stock eyecup to the Fuji Extended eyecup. Other clone brands may be identical, but as the attachment mechanism and rubber quality are so important, why skimp here?)

With this, you get a big cup around your eye that really helps to effectively block peripheral light coming in from the sides. I shoot quite a bit in bright sunlight (e.g. out on the river, spring skiing/climbing). This accessory is well worth the $12-15 you pay for it. Old one pops off and new one pops on in less time than it took me to write this sentence.
this "long" eye cup isn't actually all the long; i wish it extended a bit farther. it's more like the "normal" eye cups that come on Nikon and Canon DSLRs. but it's the only option we have for the XT-1 AFAIK. at least until a third-party comes out with a better one.
also, if you want to compare i uploaded pics of the normal vs the extended/long versions. normal is on the left, long version on the right:

Es un buen repuesto
I wear spectacles, and this eye cup is not adequate for reducing glare, under those viewing conditions, so not solving this issue, but it is certainly deeper than the original which is actually a positive for spectacle wearers. I may yet buy an eye cup with an extended side cup, like those used by cinematographers.
