It comes with the latest intel skylake core i7 6700hq quad core processor, which is powerful and will do multitasking with ease.
It comes with 8gb of DDR3L memory which is expandable up to 16gb of DDR3L memory, which gives you room for more memory in the future if you need it.
The gpu is an Intel HD graphics 530, it's a pretty good everyday gpu that can handle your typical task with ease. It's very good with video decoding since it uses quick sync technology built in.
The hard drives is a 1TB 5400rpm hard drive that will give you a lot of storage for files, music phots etc..
The battery life is a 4 cell battery which gives you about 4 hours of normal web surfing.
It comes with the latest wireless protocol WIFI 802.11ac which will give you further range of connectivity then ever before.
There are 2, USB 3.0 ports for fast file transfers from a USB 3.0 portable device.
There is a built in media card reader that will support multiple memory formats.
There is an HDMI 1.4 port for 1080p connection to a TV
It comes with a multi DVD-RW\CD-RW drive for disc media.
The Ethernet lan is 10/100gb
It comes with a touch screen that is very responsive to the touch.
The screen is a nice 1080p display.
I would recommend this laptop for everyday users as it will suit your needs and then some for some time to come.
A couple of things to note...
This laptop will only use DDR3L memory. Regular DDR3 memory could end up shortening the lifespan of this processor, because the voltage on regular DDR3 memory is higher then what this processors IMC accepts.
This laptop is not DDR4 compatible. Even though Intels 6th gen Skylake processors can accept both DDR3L and DDR4 memory, it will only accept whatever the motherboard uses and in this case this laptop's motherboard uses a DDR3 pin connector.
This processor is non upgradable. it uses a BGA fitting that's soldered onto the motherboard. Every intel 5th gen and 6th gen mobile processors are BGA now.
General Impressions:
1) Pretty quick out of the box and setup was a breeze (Windows 10 pre-installed)
2) The bevels around the screen are quite large and add about 3/4 of an inch to each side of the screen making the entire laptop fairly large compared to my old 15.6" screen.
Alterations:
Just a few days into my ownership I swapped out the harddrive for a 256gb solid state samsung drive and swapped the existing harddrive into the CD-drive using a caddy adapter. I saw a marginal improvement in performance while running the solid-state drive on high reliability (rather than high speed) settings.
Complaints:
1) The top side of the laptop is cheap, thin plastic and is EXTREMELY flimsy. It's easily deformed with light pressure. I kind of worry that it won't adequately protect the screen. No problems for the past 5 months though.
2) There is a clicking noise inside of the PC, I initially thought that it was the harddrive. However, it appears to have been the CD-drive, as the sound disappeared entirely once the CD-drive was replaced with the original harddrive.
3) The fan can be loud at times, much like my old HP.
4) The trackpad is pretty cheap and can be unresponsive. Left or right clicking on the trackpad leaves a loud, audible *click*.
Overall:
I think that the computer is a solid buy, in a cheap package. Care will need to be taken with the flimsy-ness of the top of the case. The CD-drive will probably squeak or creak a little bit unless removed. The touchscreen is responsive, but gimmicky - I haven't noticed it dramatically reducing battery life which is roughly 3-4 hours at full brightness from a full charge when not running too intensive of software. The processor is wonderful and nearly redeems all of the issues that I've brought up. A solid 4-stars, as I would probably buy this again if searching for a new computer in the same price-range.
