I read many many reviews for different slow-cookers before I decided on the Hamilton Beach 5-Qt unit. This slow-cooker is basic in features and works very well, exactly what you need in your slow-cooker.
The lid fits well, it doesn't get so hot that it melts the plastic handles off, the paint of the stoneware doesn't leech into your food and so on. It is just plain works.
The only improvements I would suggest are:
1- Warm and Hot settings seem pretty much the same. Only difference is how quickly the system gets to temp.
2- There is no indicator light to tell you that it is running/power-on. So, start it a few minutes before you leave for the day and just before you pop out the door, check it to ensure that it's warming up.
Otherwise, this is a great slow-cooker and one of the best Amazon purchases I have made. I don't like Amazon...
