    Product Description

This is Rokinon's newest fisheye lens for Nikon. It features some great new features that are not available on Rokinon's first highly rated 8mm f/3.5 fisheye lens. Optics and glass are high definition (HD) with very clear & sharp images. This lens also features a removable hood which will make it easier for use on full frame cameras. While this lens is designed for APS-C sensors, full frame users can now use it without the hood. On APS-C cameras like the Nikon D5100/D3200/D3100, the pictures will fill the entire frame or screen. On full frame cameras like the Nikon D4 & D800, the lens will produce pictures with a semi-circular image and close images will appear proportionately large for a dramatic effect.

Makes me smile everytime I use it!
I just ordered this lens after ages of considering to buy a $1400< fisheye lens, and I DO NOT regret buying it. And so, to the point, by just looking at the box a million questions are answered, so I attached pics of every single side of the box.1. Made in Korea2. Rokinon: Technology by Samyang Optics.3. Hybrid Aspherical.4. For Canon angle of view is 167°, for all other manufactures available 180°.5. As per Rokinon, low flare, ghost, Coma and Chromatic Aberration.6. Internal Focus and Ultra Multi-Coating.7. Hood is removable and is petal shaped.8. Rokinon is a trademark of Elite Brands.9. COVERAGE: APSC/Four Thirds (which means heavy vignetting on full frame... not sure if this would fit a medium format).10. FULLY MANUAL Lens.Ok, now that I just posted the summary of the most important things, I shall proceed to write my opinion. I really love it and it has made me smile while using it. I saw all the negative reviews about the lense not being sharp and not automatic, but, I decided to give it a try because I know it is absurdly challenging to shoot with a non Image Stabilizer lens, and I can almost bet on that as the factor for not being sharp in some conditions. In low light, I found myself spreading my legs to lower my center of gravity, both hands on the camera while resting one elbow on my torso to try and use my own body as a tripod, as well as holding my breath while gently pressing the trigger to shoot. I absolutely loved the feeling of being that involved, plus everything is manual; And also leaning a post, pole, tree, wall, car, statue, or any type of object to make more stable. I agree with some reviewers that it is hard, but shooting with an all manual lens is like tasting photography as it was in its origins. I will not lie, I found myself not only trying to use my body as a tripod and leaning on walls, but using the Live View of the camera for digital-zoom-focusing a lot, but it doesnt bother me, that just means I have to shoot more pics to reduce the margin of errorAs everything, it takes practice to master a tool, and this is what this is, a tool, a vintage tool that makes me polish the most basic skills that we take for granted. I figure that out of the box, if someone is used to all auto everything, it will be intimidating and discouraging, but if you have patience and want to save 90% of an all auto zoom IS fisheye lens, this is the lens for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Value for the Money - and Astrophotography too!
Reviewed in the United States on March 26, 2013
This lens works really well on my Nikon D90. Even night shots come out great. It takes a little getting used to as it takes in such a wide angle of view and includes things you might not expect (like your feet). I have had the lens about 3 months and am still experimenting with all the ways it can be used. It is very sharp and produces very crisp images with deep color. Additionally, the hood is removable so that if you want to later use it on an FX camera the petals will not show in the frame.
I would highly recommend this lens if you want a low cost, high quality product.
    UPDATE:
Am now using with the D7200. Great for astro-photography. After doing some tests to determine f/5.6 at infinity was the best setting I captured the image of the Milky Way attached. Exposure f/5.6 (at infinity), 20 seconds, ISO 10,000. Nice sharp round stars in the large center. Coma as you get to the outside edges. If you want a great super-wide angle lens for astrophotography work, this is it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Rokinon is Samyang? Great price for a fun and quality landscape lens
Reviewed in the United States on November 29, 2016
Overall this is a well built and inexpensive lens. For the price, the overall quality is pretty good. The metal mount fits well on my Canons and the manual aperture dial has a nice "click" to it. The focus ring is smooth although I leave it in infinity most of the time.
Pros: price, quality feel, image quality
Cons: manual focus and aperture. Recommended for aps-c cameras (although some posts have it on full framed cams).
I haven't owned this for long so I will update if something happens worth mentioning.
4 stars- focus ring works but unsure on the number alignment...seems to stop full left past 0.3 to ...blank area on lens. Don't know if that's normal. Doesnt seem to really effect the focus much

    Saludos!

I love fisheye lens but this is the first time I bought a manual focus lens. No problem focusing though because anything more than a few feet is infinity. So I set the focus to Infinity & tape the focus ring so it won'\t move about. All the pics I took so far are totally sharp.
