--Pros--
-Very compact design. I use it in college and it's been a life saver in my tiny dorm. Still heavy though.
-Two sided printing is not automatic but still very easy to use by removing printed pages and putting them back in.
-Text looks dark and crisp. Colors look great and I have zero complaints on print quality.
-Super easy set up. If you have a Mac you can just plug right into it and go, Windows still only a few steps with Samsung's excellent software. Has wireless printing but I can't use it in a dorm.
-Samsung's software also lets you choose quality and toner saving options each time you print and can be turned off with one click if you don't want it.
--Cons--
-Loud, don't expect to watch tv right next to it while printing something...or starting a print job at 3 in the morning with a roommate
-Slow. For college papers this printer is perfect, but up it to 30 or even 40 pages and you're going to have to let it sit for 5-10 minutes to finish the print job.
-Zero user interface on the printer. It's only function is to be printed from by a computer or phone (it does have a NFC field for non iPhone smartphones which works well with non-University WiFi).
For the price, however, I still definitely recommened this printer to anyone who wants quality printing on a budget.
15 Sept 2014 - Had to come back and edit this review .. after owning it for a little while now, I'm not really that impressed with this one as I was with my CLP-315 .. It seems to consume the toner ridiculously fast for some reason, especially when printing projects that low in graphics .. I have no idea where the toner goes .. but I don't believe at the current rate its going to yield the number pages as suggested by Samsung .. I'll probably be getting rid of this one soon .. I kept my CLP-315 for 5+ years and was sad to see it go
First Review in August - I'm a big fan of Samsung products. They have always been of great quality in performance and longevity for me. I just got this printer, replacing my Samsung CLP-315 color laser. So far, I'm as impressed as I expected to be. The machine is quiet, prints great looking documents, and is just a great looking piece of equipment in my home office setup. The only thing that I wish this printer could do better is envelope printing. Unless I'm doing something wrong, it curls the envelope during the printing process. So, while the prints looks great, the envelope come out with a few creases on them. A straight paper path would be great (-: but that'll have to be another machine. Otherwise, I love it and would highly recommend it for any office or home or church that needs quality printing on a budget.
Additionally, compared to our old OKI laser, the print quality is poor - our old OKI 5200N was expensive to replace toner & drums also, but the print quality was FAR SUPERB - waterproof, glossy and really crisp and clean. This printer looks almost like an ink jet, but the depth of color is nowhere near that of a good (Canon) ink jet printer. Also, the OKI cartridges would last almost 10 mos-1 year vs this one at 3 mos, maybe 4 tops.
To ADD TO THE ISSUES, this WiFi on this printer is a NIGHTMARE! First, it was fine, worked with anything WiFi, printed on multiple devices, PC and Mac....then out of the blue it started to have issues - PC no longer able to find it via WiFi, then hook up the cable and the PC finds it, but then the Mac cannot via WiFi anymore. We are 2-technical trainers in the CE industry and tried all kinds of troubleshooting, rebooting, new toners, etc.....and STILL cannot print except from ONE device now!
Just a lesson for us, as this is our first Samsung product. I had doubts, being int he CE industry but thought I'd give Samsung a try - nothing but regrets. We later bought 2 Galaxy Tab's and had nothing but issues with BOTH of those as well! I will NEVER buy Samsung products EVER again (customer care is a nightmare as well, basically they just expect you to eat the cost and buy new after 1 year)!
Pros: Compact, great quality, accessible from my phone with Samsung print app, inexpensive replacement toner (for a laser Printer)
Cons: I haven't found any yet.
Top reviews from other countries
On top of that, the toner is ridiculously expensive.
Samsung is known for their cell phones and TV's. Stay away from their printers. Don't even take it if it's free; it'll be a free headache.
