    So quiet, so much space...
To tell the truth I just got 4 of them yesterday so I will update this review down the road however I wanted to share my experience.Drives arrived well packaged in their individual frustration free box, no problems there and kudos Amazon for that.As I read reviews before purchasing these drives I knew that I might have to do a firmware upgrade. Drives got CC4B firmware and the most recent one is CC4H on the Seagate web site.So I went ahead and downloaded the program which allows you to update the firmware in Windows. Thinking it was working well and before putting these drives in my array I decided to check the firmware one more time... to discover that it never worked!I ended up downloading the ISO image, burnt a CD with it and boot out of it. This time, after each drives I got a "Success" message, which was nice to see. I doubled check the firmware again and all the drives got updated successfully, yeah! Please note that you can't upgrade the firmware if the drive is part of an array, in RAID mode or in a RAID controller. It has to be plugged directly to one of your motherboard SATA port set in AHCI or IDE.I then installed the 4 drives in my computer and using my 2720SGL and they were all recognized. Now I have to decide: RAID 5 or 10?As some reviews were good and bad on reliability, I decided to go with RAID 10 for now, which gives me a better piece of mind in case of a drive failing. Note though that a lot of people don't know either what they are doing or what they are talking about so take any review with a grain of salt and make your own opinion. I still get 6TB of storage which is plenty, at least for now. These drives replace 4*640GB WD Caviar Black and I'm happy that I have done the switch as the WD were so loud. The new 3TB drives are so much quieter, you wonder if they are spinning. Also they are cooler (86 to 91F, thanks to the 1TB/platter.PROS:Price ($99)Lot of storageSMART capability to monitor the driveCool and quiet operationFast transfer speedCONS:Firmware update is a bit trickyI wish I can get moreI wish I got them on BF for $892 years warranty rather than 3If reliability is good, I may buy more down the road.
