This is probably not a guaranteed way to lose weight but it's a wonderful way to trick yourself into getting some moderate exercise. I sweat while playing this game! I find that my balance board isn't really accurate on my weight compared to my bathroom scale it's a minus 10-15lb difference depending on where I place my balance board. Although, I'm not sure I can really attest to how accurate my bathroom scale is anyway. Maybe my floor isn't level, who knows.
Point blank, this is a fun game that can make you sweat, but should not be used as your sole form of exercise.
Sometimes, two Wiimotes with Motion Plus are required, or you may need a nunchuck. You will definitely need the balance board. If you don't have that, then buy the one that comes with a balance board.
WII FIT METER
I don't like pedometers in general. I forget to put them on or take them off or they fall off. I don't like calibrating them. So far, the Wii Fit Meter fell off once . . . into the toilet. I couldn't just take it out and wear it. I had to wash it. You'll be glad to know this thing is completely waterproof.
As for function, the Wii Fit Meter doesn't have a way to calibrate that I could find. It tells me the time and the temperature, which is always off. I don't have to look at my thermostat to see that it really isn't 87.4 °F indoors (the thermostat says 70 °F). It tells me how many Calories I've burned and altitude, which read -15 ft (I am in the foothills of a mountain range). The best I could do was reset the altimeter to 0 by pressing the left and right buttons, but that still doesn't give me the correct altitude.
By the way, the Fit meter buttons keep getting accidentally pressed as I lean into the counter or other objects. These problems have confirmed my feelings. I detest pedometers.
WII FIT SOFTWARE
I like the graphics, much better resolution than before but with the same look and feel. The exercises are more customizable. I can choose a routine to burn off so many Calories or I can do it by time, or I can just pick and choose what I want to do. I love that.
There are a bunch of different dance styles, and the games are fun to learn.
I'm really happy with this purchase. Minus one star because the meter is not accurate, not because I don't like pedometers.
Well, this uncool mom decided I would take it over and make it mine! Between this (WiiFit U) and Exerbeat, I am having a grand time getting the blood moving. Do I think I'll lose 50 pounds by just using the Wii Fit U? No. But, it does make a fun change of pace and is an easy way to keep track of weight and exercise. The Fit meter is an easy pedometer that keeps track of my activity and then transfers it to the WiiFit U program. So easy. Even if I'm not able to get on the WiiFit U, I know that the walking I do is being recorded and will be transferred when I get on next.
Overall, an excellent product for a kid's console. Again, this isn't an intense workout. It's just a fun change of pace.
